Backup Express Version 11 is ready !
We are delighted to announce the release of Backup Express version 11.
The culmination of many man-years of development, Backup Express 11 is a quantum leap in the realm of online backup.
Some of the exciting features of Version 11 include:
• Support for Windows-7 and Server 2008 R2, both 32-bit and 64-bit editions.
• Support for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Exchange Server 2007.
• A new design that separates the user interface (or GUI) from the backup engine and scheduler. The program does not need to be open for backups to run, and in fact backups are completely unobtrusive.
• A robust, flexible, enterprise-grade scheduler.
• A new system-tray icon shows when a backup is running, and shows the status of the last backup at a glance.
• Improved open-file performance using new technology built into Windows Vista, Windows-7 and Server 2008.
• Very fast backup performance suitable even for large file servers with millions of files.
• Very fast file scans, restores and deletes even on large servers.
• Version 11 looks for changed files using datestamp and filesize rather than the Windows Archive flag. This virtually guarantees that no files will be overlooked by the backup and minimises conflicts with local tape backup software.
• Optional local backup including backup to tape, disk, DVD or NAS, as well as image-based disaster recovery. Now a single application can manage both local and offsite backups.
• Multiple machines can share a single large backup account without conflict, removing the need to manage space on separate accounts.
• Improved email notification and logging.
• Ability to limit the bandwidth used by the backup.
• Administrators of large servers can now take a ‘seed’ backup to USB disk and send it direct to us to get up and running quickly without lengthy internet transfers.

We will be releasing Version 11 via automatic update around the middle of next week. The majority of users need do nothing – you will receive version 11 automatically, and your existing settings will be migrated to the new software.
